A stunning driveway & property transformation 

The Challenge

Over time tarmac driveways require significant maintenance & management. It doesn't take long before tarmac driveways will crack & crumble, creating a significant "weeding challenge". Aesthetically, tarmac is not particularly desirable.

 

We worked closely with the owners to understand their what they wanted with the driveway transformation. Our teams helped the client to imagine and pick the colour schemes for the resin driveway that would complement both the house & the garden. The size of this driveway meant that it was particularly important to design & create a beautiful curved edging that would help in both defining/framing the garden & the driveway. 

The Solution

 

After agreeing the design with the customer, our teams work closely together to make the client's expectations a reality - including keeping the client updated at each stage of the process.

 

The preparation necessary to lay the foundation for this driveway was extensive & the installation underwent the following stages: 

  • Removal: Removing the existing driveway materials & disposing of these
  • Sub-grade: Top soil stripped back until organic and vegetative material has been removed. 
  • Sub-base: 175mm depth of type 3 granular sub-base to SHW clause 805
  • Asphalt Binder Course: 70mm depth of maximum size AC 10 open graded asphalt.
  • Sublime Resin: 6mm aggregate to a depth of 18m

The Result

 The customers were very happy with the clear communication throughout this complex project - and it provided reassurance throughout that their investment was in safe hands. 

 

The finished driveway incorporated elegant curves with specially selected edging that tranformed not just the driveway, but their entire property - enabling the existing beauty within the garden & house to be more pronounced.
